ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE PROGRAM
The Erasmus+ Program, which has been implemented since January 1, 2014, is the umbrella program that includes support for different age groups and target audiences in the fields of education, youth, and sports. In Turkey, the Erasmus+ Program is carried out by the Turkish National Agency and is designed to strengthen participants' professional skills and career development. Regardless of age or educational background, this program aims to equip individuals with new skills, enhance their personal development, and increase their employment opportunities. In line with these goals, the Erasmus+ Program supports individual learning opportunities and institutional cooperation.
Within the scope of the Erasmus+ Program, higher education institutions can develop and implement joint projects with one another and carry out student and staff exchanges for short or long periods. The Erasmus+ Program provides unrequited financial support to individuals in order to improve the quality of higher education, enhance personal development, help individuals gain new skills, and thereby increase employability. Through the Erasmus+ Program, students have the opportunity to improve not only their academic abilities but also their language skills and subject-specific knowledge, while also gaining the chance to experience different cultures.
Students enrolled at our institution can benefit from the Erasmus+ programs in two forms: Study Mobility and Traineeship Mobility.
Erasmus+ Study Mobility refers to a student who is enrolled in a higher education institution completing part of their studies at a partner higher education institution abroad. Our students can complete one semester of their education at a foreign institution that offers a curriculum compatible with their own program. The courses they successfully complete at the host institution are recognized academically and counted towards their degree at our school; any failed courses must be retaken at our institution.
Erasmus+ Traineeship Mobility refers to a student enrolled in a higher education institution undertaking an internship at a company or organization abroad. The internship is a process during which a participant gains professional training and/or work experience at a business or organization in another program country. This activity allows the student to gain practical work experience in their own professional field. The internship is not conducted as part of academic coursework but rather aims to provide experience in professional activities within the relevant sector that have economic value.
ERASMUS GRANT
The European Commission provides non-repayable financial support (grants) to individuals participating in the exchange program to assist with their expenses. Countries eligible for mobility activities are grouped into three categories based on their standard of living, and the amount of monthly grants awarded for study or internship mobility is determined according to the group classification of the host country.
Each project year, the National Agency informs institutions of the allocated grant amounts, and the number of participants eligible to receive Erasmus+ funding is determined accordingly. Students who remain on the waiting list due to insufficient funding may still participate in the program as “Zero Grant Erasmus+ Students,” meaning they join the program without receiving financial support and cover their own expenses.
INCLUSION SUPPORT
The Erasmus+ Program encourages the participation of individuals with fewer opportunities. In this context, additional financial support may be provided to participants who face obstacles in taking part in mobility activities due to physical or mental disabilities, health problems, or being affected by natural disasters. The criteria for receiving additional grants under inclusion support are communicated annually by the National Agency to our institution and are announced in detail to students during the application periods.
